The Trust is currently being reorganised and has a wider remit. The reorganisation must be approved by the Office of Scottish Charities Regulators (OSCR) and when this process is complete, we will issue a newsletter.

Some of the Trust´s project since its inception in 2003 have been:

• Development of a tourist information centre in Brough in conjunction with the Highland Council, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), RSPB, Leader funding, and other public bodies. Monies from these bodies and raised through projects and generous donations helped to pay an information officer while the building was donated by the owner of Windhaven, Brian Sparks.
• Development and operation of the Caithness & Sutherland Walking Festival - see http://www.activities.iberacal.com The first festival took place in 2004 and in 2007 it was part of Highland Year of Culture 2007. Partners in this project were local businesses, Highland Council, National Health Service (NHS) under their social health remit, RSPB and Forestry Commission, as well as a number of voluntary organisations such as the Caithness Field Club and Waybaggers walking group.
• Development of a seal viewing platform with assistance from SNH.
• Satellite information point at Dunnet Head in 2006 and 2007
• Developing walks which are now available at http://www.iberacal.com and at http://www.walkingworld.com
• Assistance with developing Heathsfield, a local woodland, by having a student from an American university helping. This has now been taken over by the Dunnet Forestry Trust.
• Translation of promotional materials into French by a university student from France overseen by one of the Trustees.
• Working with the Highland Council on a WWII trail.
• Providing historical seminars in conjunction with Ian Brown of the Historical Radar Archive. Tours were undertaken of some of the WWII sites and a full seminar on the relevance of Dunnet Head and Burifa Hill to WWII defences.
• Providing fishing permits for the Dunnet Head Fishing Association.
• Providing archaeological information - see booklet at http://www.iberacal.com
• Publication of Corners of Caithness - Dunnet - see http://www.iberacal.com
• Working with the Moray Firth Partnership to develop the walking festival and the North Sea Trail.
• Access projects, inputting information into the Core Path plan for walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

Profits from downloaded publications go towards the running of the Trust.

The Trust is undergoing a restructuring following the decision by the owners of the centre to move away from the area. All assets - plans of the military installations, geological, archseological and historical reports, old photos, etc. will be handed over to the new Trustees after the Caithness & Sutherland Walking Festival in May.
